Hey everyone,
It’s Cam here, for a bit more of a personal email this time.
Firstly, I hope everybody is finding ways to stay curious and connected as we rapidly approach holiday season.
It’s been a busy year here at 99 Lives, laying down a lot of foundational work behind the scenes this summer to prepare for some exciting things coming in 2026.
I don’t know about everyone else, but I am really beginning to see more and more humans every day rejecting the rapid digitalization of our lives, crying out for more connected, real, human experiences.
I’ve been so blessed in the last 10 years to be able to travel the world and immerse myself in so many new cultures, connecting deeply with the real people who create them, and I decided it’s time to start creating experiences like this for those of us who are truly seeking them.
So with that, I’d like to introduce a new dinner series that 99 Lives is hosting for the first time, called Airplane Mode Lisbon.
Introducing... Airplane Mode Lisbon 🇵🇹
This is a new, but vintage dinner series full of connections without distractions.
In the spirit of the newsletter you already receive every week, the goal of these dinners is to take you away from algorithms and scrolling, and swap your screen time for face time IRL.
This means there is only one, non-negotiable rule for everyone who shows up:
No Phones Allowed.
There is truly nothing more uniting in the human experience than sharing food, and because the environment is so important for these intimate moments, I’m hosting this first one at my home in Lisbon, and will be personally cooking for everyone in attendance.
When you arrive at the dinner, you will be asked to put your phone on Airplane Mode & place it in the box provided. By signing up for the dinner, you are committing to true presence, leaving your phone behind for a few hours and focusing on the people, food and drinks in front of you.
In between the food, drinks, and discussion topic for the night, there will be 2 different mixer moments to get everybody mixing and meeting each other in a unique, low-pressure way.
Everyone will be free to grab the phone for the last 15-20 minutes to take photos, videos and exchange contacts with any amazing new connections you’ve made.
Dinner, snacks and some drinks will be provided, but you are more than welcome to bring any extra drinks for yourself or to share with others.
(The address to this home-cooked experience will be provided via email 48 hours before hand)
This dinner idea has been in the works for a few months and I am genuinely so excited to bring it to life and host everyone in my home. I am overwhelmed with the response already and truly can’t believe it’s almost full already.
So for anyone who is in Lisbon and interested in coming, we would love to have you there with us. Please sign up ASAP with the link above to secure your spot, as I imagine it will be full by next Monday.
Every day that passes, I realize more and more that I want to do is help humans beings connect more deeply, first with themselves, then with others, and finally with the world around them.
We truly have to be the change, and I believe we truly have the power to create the world we want to live in, one day at a time.
